Julia Wesley is an LMFT-Supervisor who specializes in working with couples and families with addictions issues. She has extensive training and professional experience working with these populations. Her passion is providing a safe, non-judgmental environment, where people are able to begin healing their lives and relationships. Julia uses a person centered, structural approach with warmth and rapport as the corner stones of her practice.
Since 2000, Julia has worked in all levels of mental healthcare, including as the director of a substance abuse intensive outpatient program, crisis management work, in a psychiatric emergency room setting and in traditional outpatient settings. Her heart has always been in working with family systems. At one point in her career, she was working with Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) working with her clients on all of the personal and professional relationships in their lives. This is when she started looking even more closely at the relationship between substance and process addictions, as well as, their role in family functioning.
Recently, Julia has added PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy) to her tool box. She loves how this new approach has changed her practice and feels her clients have truly benefited from using it. By teaching couples what it truly means to be in each other’s care, she helps clients feel deeply connected and secure in their relationships.
As an LMFT Supervisor, Julia also loves working with new therapists. She brings her passion and excitement for the mental health field to her supervisees. Her emphasis is on helping them become their best professional and personal selves. She believes that we need more MFT’s in the world and she is doing what she can to make that happen.
Julia graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education-Language Arts and a Master of Science in Child and Family Studies- Marriage and Family Therapy with a minor in Drug and Alcohol Treatment.
