Kimberly Mendoza, MS, LPC
Kimberly has over 25 years of experience working with children and adolescents who have been abused and neglected. She specializes in adult survivors of child sexual abuse, non-suicidal self injurious behaviors, anxiety, depression, adolescents, self-esteem, coping skills, severe mental illness, suicidal ideation, and crisis intervention. She has worked with clients of various ages, in various settings such as private practice, hospital settings and foster care. Kimberly´s primary theoretical orientation is Choice Theory, which focuses on supporting, encouraging, listening, accepting, trusting, respecting and negotiating differences. Validating clients and their experiences is an important part in building the therapeutic process. However, Kimberly believes in treating each client as an individual and uses an integrated approach which often incorporates additional methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Gestalt Therapy.
Kimberly has extensive experience doing individual, group, family therapy, and aftercare planning within the psychiatric hospital system. She also has several years of experience with crisis intervention and assessment through her work with In-patient, Partial Hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient Therapeutic Programs. Kimberly has several years experience administering and scoring assessments and inventories, which can be useful in the diagnosis and treatment of clients.
