When joining forces with each unique person in the therapeutic space, Miriam brings a deep curiosity, empathy, respect, a calm presence, and often her humor. She specializes in working with families, couples and individuals from a systemic perspective, utilizing the power of relationships to understand how problems are formed, maintained and resolved. Miriam is LGBTQ+ and gender affirming and strives to provide a judgment-free, safe, understanding and supportive environment for any person seeking therapy.

Miriam utilizes an eclectic therapeutic approach, drawing from family systems, humanistic experiential, empathic, strength-based, and solution-focused models. During her clinical practicum, Miriam encountered how trauma is both a ubiquitous experience, and one that continues to impact individuals and their relationships in the present. Processing how trauma contributes to current challenges, is one of Miriam's areas of interest. She also focuses on families adjusting their food culture when one or more members is working on recovering from disordered eating patterns. She works with clients from a wide range of ages and cultural backgrounds, believing that every human deserves to be respected as they work towards their goals.

Miriam graduated with a Master of Science in Family Therapy from Texas Woman's University. Becoming a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, however, is a second career, as Miriam practiced as a Mechanical Engineer seemingly in a previous life. She received her BS in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Sexuality Studies from the University of California, Davis. Her strengths as an engineer, including analysis, coordinating and collaborating with multiple systems, and persistence in problem solving, align with and contribute to her work as a therapist and her passion for helping others.
