Nicole Reger is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). She is trained in a variety of therapy approaches, including the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered Therapy, and Psychodrama.
Nicole’s counseling approach is tailored to each client and dynamic. She believes the foundation of the counseling relationship is trust, authenticity, and compassion and that success in counseling is collaborative. She works to establish open communication in a safe environment so together you can uncover patterns in thinking, feeling, or action that are no longer serving you well. What follows is a cooperative process of shifting patterns to match current values and goals and evaluating progress together. She balances the hard work of personal change with patience, compassion, and humor. Nicole earned a Master’s of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW). For several years, Nicole served as a Faculty Associate in the Rehabilitation Counseling Department at UTSW, facilitating group therapy and supervising graduate students. For the past few years, Nicole has been in private practice, working with a variety of clients, including adults, teens, and couples. In addition to her formal training, Nicole is passionate about continuing her education and training. She is Level II trained in Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT). PACT, developed by Dr. Stan Tatkin, is a fusion of attachment theory, developmental neuroscience, and arousal regulation. PACT has a reputation for effectively treating the most challenging couples. Nicole’s couples’ approach, informed by PACT, includes role play, enactments, and scenes to make couples therapy “doable,” active, and often fun. She has also been studying psychodrama for the past four years. Psychodrama allows the use of action methods, which enrich the counseling experience and may yield insights beyond traditional talk-therapy methods. Through this training, Nicole effectively incorporates role play, spontaneity, and creativity into her sessions. Education
