Sarah is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) whose amiable personality combined with genuine love and desire to help others fosters an authentic relationship with her clients. She believes in meeting the client where they are and developing a personalized path to life change. Her main motivation with every individual she encounters is to assist them in obtaining the tools and skills needed to be increasingly confident in becoming their own advocate for their well-being and "first responder" of their crisis.
Sarah has extensive experience working in psychiatric hospitals both inpatient and outpatient settings allowing her to have comprehensive training in suicide risk assessment and intervention in addition to crisis counseling. Due to this experience, she is qualified to work with almost anything in the mental health realm including various mood and personality disorders, psychosis, suicidal/homicidal ideations, self-harm, substance use/addictions, trauma, post-traumatic stress, grief and loss, domestic/family/dating violence, and much more. Sarah takesan eclectic approach tailored to the unique needs of the individual, couple, and family drawing from evidenced-based therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT). In addition, Sarah integrates Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques and a strength-based approach to help individuals challenge any ambivalence and discrepancies that can be barriers to engage in life changing behaviors. Motivational Interviewing is often utilized to address substance abuse and other self-destructive behaviors, but it is useful for any individual who starts off treatment unprepared for change. One of Sarah’s strongest beliefs about the joy of therapy is witnessing a client experience that “light bulb” moment in their eyes and discover the hidden truth of their journey that they have been searching for all along. To her, there is no greater honor than to be just a small part of that unveiling. It is her belief that the answers are all within the client, it is only her role to empower and push the curiosity. Sarah understands the importance of relying on faith and spirituality during difficult seasons of life. Therefore, Sarah also provides christian counseling upon request incorporating prayer, scripture, and spiritual experiences into the mix which she believes can further deepen the healing experience.
