From personal experience, I know how hard it is to ask for help. However, I’ve learned that we all need help at some point in our lives. Whether it is just having someone to bounce ideas off of, needing a push in the right direction, or wanting to learn about evidence-based techniques that are effective in easing the symptoms that are holding you back, I am here to help. My true passion is working with kids, teens, and adults who have been traumatized, and those affected by depression, anxiety, anger, and poor self-esteem, using an eclectic approach. I try to gain a deep understanding of my clients and formulate therapeutic interventions based on individualized needs.

My interest in Psychology began over 30 years ago. I eventually earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Washington, Seattle. I immediately moved to Virginia to work on my Forensic Psychology Master’s, learning there that I had a passion for working with victims. I took a few years off and realized that I wanted to work with people on a more personal level, so I decided to pursue my Master’s in Counseling at Southern Methodist University, with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - and so, here I am, doing what I am meant to do.

During my practicum and internship, I worked with victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and physical abuse. I trained in Trauma-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also worked with children in Play Therapy and led adolescent and teen groups. Over the last several years, I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including The Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County, in a hospital setting, leading a drug and alcohol intensive outpatient program and an anger management group, working with behavior-disordered children in the community, and working for a practice that focused primarily on Dialectical Behavior Therapy. I am eager to constantly learn and grow as a clinician, and as a human being.
