Suzanne specializes in preteen, teen and young adult issues, especially those experiencing depression and anxiety. Teens and young adults experience many pressures from school, friends, and family. These can have negative effects within multiple areas of their life, including lowered self-esteem, isolating from family and friends, and problems with school and work. She strongly believes in the impact of families on overall functioning, and engages the family system as part of the therapeutic process.
Suzanne loves the opportunity to provide premarital counseling to couples interested in developing skills and strengths for a solid foundation to their marriage. She uses the Prepare/Enrich program, an evidence-based program shown to reduce rates of divorce by up to 30%.
As the mom of a large family, she understands the challenges of balancing parenting, home and job roles. This pressure can lead to many women having increased anxiety and depression as a result of guilt, regret and unmet expectations. She is passionate about providing support to women who are struggling with the demands of balancing their multiple roles.
Suzanne has spent the past couple years working as a therapist within inpatient and partial hospitalization settings. She conducts individual, family and group therapy sessions and helps individuals create and work toward goals they want for their life. In addition, she has spent many years working with children, adolescents and adults in various settings, including education and church groups.
