Tom Earnshaw is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a big personality and an extensive background working in psychiatric hospitals.  One of his favorite things about therapy is the diversity of issues that he can work with!  He is qualified to work with most anything and has extensive experience with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, bipolar, and psychosis.  Tom is passionate about helping people through life’s rough patches, dilemmas, and or crisis’.

After working at Timberlawn for 4 years, he moved on to the Psychiatric Emergency Department at Parkland where he has been for 3 years.  He absolutely loves being a therapist and doing therapy.  He believes that there is nothing better than seeing the light go on in a client’s eyes when they figure out whatever they’ve been searching for. To him, there is no greater feeling than knowing that he could be a tiny part of that light going off.  It is his belief that this is his role as a therapist, to help ignite that light, and not to tell clients what to do.  He has many therapeutic techniques at his disposal and thrives on learning about how his clients experience life.

Tom brings a sense of humor to the work of therapy.  He often relishes that his clients can fire him at any time and he will help them find his replacement.  Tom believes that the strength of the working relationship is just as important as the science behind it.  Thus, he wants his clients to move forward in life –even if it is without him!

After attending the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) for 5 years, he took a victory lap, then he attended University of Texas at Arlington for 3 years. From Ole Miss he received a BA in Psychology with a Minor in English (think literature kind not grammar).  From the University of Texas at Arlington he received a Master of Science in Social Work with Direct Practice in Mental Health Concentration.  Tom has many great stories from his time in school and if you get lucky, he might just share one!
